FarStone Releases VirtualDrive® 7

Popular FarStone CD emulator now supports DVD data and custom VCD creation

IRVINE, CA — February 7, 2002 — FarStone Technology has released VirtualDrive 7, the popular CD utility that emulates a physical CD-ROM drive. VirtualDrive 7 allows a user to create up to 23 virtual CD-ROM drives and an unlimited number of virtual CDs. New functionality includes custom virtual CD creation and support for DVD data. VirtualDrive 7 runs on Windows XP, NT, 2000, and 98.

VirtualDrive 7 has some of the best game support of any CD emulator on the market, and will make virtual CDs from games using SafeDisk 1.x, SafeDisk 2.x, SecuROM, and LaserLock. Supported titles include The Sims, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Diablo II, and NASCAR Racing, among others. Virtual CDs are played at hard drive drive speed — 200 times faster than a CD-ROM drive, and FarStone’s RapidCache caching technology further enhances performance by reducing access rates by 75%.

VirtualDrive 7 supports MP3 audio compression, allowing users to create quality music CDs, and even music-only virtual CDs. The latest version of the top-selling FarStone CD emulator reinforces the company’s commitment to quality, affordable disc management software.
