VirtualDrive 7 to Ship on Motion Computing Tablet PCs
Motion Computing will distribute VirtualDrive 7 CD emulator on its M1200 Tablet PCs
IRVINE, CA — November 11, 2002 — Motion Computing will ship VirtualDrive 7 with its Motion Computing’s M1200 Tablet PCs. FarStone’s award-wining emulation software will allow Motion M1200 users to run disc-based CD-DVD-ROM applications on their Tablet PCs, which do not have a CD-ROM drive.
VirtualDrive 7 creates “virtual CDs” and emulates a computer’s physical CD/DVD-ROM drive, running disc-based applications as files directly on the hard drive. Virtual CDs have response times up to 200 times faster than a physical disc in a CD-ROM drive; this performance is further enhanced by FarStone’s patented RapidCache technology, which eliminates the time it takes a virtual disc to launch.
VirtualDrive 7 creates up to 23 virtual CD-DVD-ROM drives and an unlimited number of virtual CDs.
“VirtualDrive 7 enhances user mobility and is a perfect fit for our tablet PCs. Customers can be completely mobile and still enjoy a fully functional computer experience,” said David Altounian, Chief Operating Officer of Austin-based Motion Computing.
