FarStone Launches VirtualDrive 9
VirtualDrive 9 combines CD emulation, CD burning, and custom VCD creation
IRVINE, CA — October 28, 2004 — FarStone Technology has released VirtualDrive 9, the latest version of the popular CD utility that emulates a physical CD-ROM drive. VirtualDrive 9 creates up to 23 virtual CD-ROM drives and an unlimited number of virtual CDs. New features include expanded custom virtual CD creation, improved CD-DVD burning, and updated game and disc support.
VirtualDrive 9 converts PC games and disc-based applications into virtual CDs, or files that run directly on the hard drive. Laptop users can take their game collections anywhere, and because they no longer need a CD-ROM drive to play disc-based applications, they can replace it with an extra battery or disk drive.
“VirtualDrive 9 gives people a way to manage their disc-based applications,” said Tom Fedro, FarStone Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Not only does it appeal to serious gamers, but it helps traveling professionals, too.”
VirtualDrive 9 offers some of the best game and disc support in the industry, and operates on Windows XP, NT, 2000, and 98.
About VirtualDrive 9
VirtualDrive 9 emulates a computer’s physical CD-DVD-ROM drive, running disc-based applications as “virtual CDs” directly on the hard drive. A virtual CD has response times up to 200 times faster than a physical CD in a CD-ROM drive, and VirtualDrive 9’s included RapidCache technology further enhances performance by eliminating CD load time. VirtualDrive 9 creates up to 23 virtual CD/DVD-ROM drives and an unlimited number of CD/DVD-ROMs.
