FarStone Releases VirtualDrive® Utility & Burning Suite (VDUBS)
CD emulation suite combines CD/DVD emulation, CD-DVD burning, and hard drive emulation
IRVINE, CA — October 24, 2004 — FarStone Technology has launched a new, premium CD emulator with a high-speed RAM disk component and expanded CD-DVD burning and CD emulation features.
A combination CD-DVD and hard drive emulation utility, VirtualDrive & Burning Suite is based on VirtualDrive, FarStone’s popular CD-DVD emulator that was first introduced over 10 years ago. The included burning utility provides an advanced way to burn backup copies of music, software, photos, PC games, and documents onto CDs and DVDs.
“People are embracing technologies that allow them to create, manage, burn, and play digital content. We’ve provided a powerful solution that gives them a convenient, robust way to deploy the latest innovations and improve the performance of their systems and applications,” said Tom Fedro, FarStone Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
FarStone’s “Virtual Hard Drive” feature uses system RAM to boost file transfer speeds by up to 340 times over the performance or a physical hard drive. This enhances PC game performance, Internet surfing, graphics processing, and audio and video editing. Virtual Hard Drive mimics a hard disk drive while storing files in non-swappable physical memory. The data is automatically saved if any changes are made to the RAM drive or if the system reboots or shuts down.
Praised by industry insiders at ZDTV as “easy to use, elegantly designed and truly useful,” FarStone’s CD-DVD emulation software allows users to store images of CD and DVD programs such as games, graphics and audio/video, on the hard drive. These programs typically must run from a physical CD. VirtualDrive allows the user to create virtual CDs and run them directly on the hard drive, reducing access times and improving playback speeds.
