Authentium Offers FarStone’s RestoreIT® to Subscribers
World’s leading security technology integrator will include RestoreIT data backup and recovery utility in its security suite
Santa Clara, CA — October 18, 2005 — FarStone Technology, a developer of security solutions and performance utilities for PCs and networks, and Authentium, the world’s leading end-point security technology integrator, have jointly announced a licensing agreement at ISPCON, the industry’s top event for wired and wireless ISPs. The agreement calls for the companies to incorporate FarStone’s RestoreIT xSP Personal Disaster Recovery™ technology with Authentium’s ESP Enterprise Manager and ESP Security Suite for ISPs. RestoreIT for ESP will be available to subscribers of Authentium’s ESP security platform which includes award-winning antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall, URL filtering, anti-phishing and pop-up filtering applications. The solutions are available to ISPs, enterprises and small to mid-sized businesses to protect their business-critical PCs.
Over 3 million consumers are currently safeguarded by Authentium technologies which are deployed by Cox Communications, Adelphia, Earthlink and other US and international ISPs. “We’ve seen a recent surge in service providers seeking recovery solutions to augment their security offerings,” said Tom Fedro, executive vice president, FarStone. “We see this partnership with Authentium as ideal because it makes the RestoreIT functionality accessible to a broader range of ISPs and their subscribers through the easy to deploy Authentium ESP platform.”
The bundled offering from the two industry leaders builds upon the product strengths of both companies, providing full-featured, leading-edge security technology to its enterprises and ISPs. The multi-year, worldwide licensing agreement encompasses future RestoreIT upgrades, and Authentium will offer the bundled product in various languages.
“We are committed to providing an integrated, best-of-breed approach to desktop security,” said John Sharp, Chairman and CEO, Authentium. “FarStone’s recovery software broadens ESP protection to allow users to recover from otherwise ‘fatal’ consequences of external threats, software malfunctions and user-induced errors. RestoreIT for ESP is a great addition to the ESP platform.”
By offering RestoreIT to their subscriber base, service providers gain a revenue producing, value-added service offering that also measurably reduces technical support expenses. Service providers differentiate themselves with additional premium services, giving them a competitive advantage and increased customer loyalty.
This move also marks FarStone’s expansion into the enterprise market. Now, a broader range of customers, both enterprise and consumer, will be able to instantly recover entire systems, network connections, applications and files individually or through the network administrator using the ESP console.
Authentium ESP enables enterprises and service providers to choose which application(s) to make available to employees or subscribers. Authentium technology protects over 18 million e-mail accounts and more than 9 million corporate, education and ISP end points.
