FarStone Releases RestoreIT® 7 and RestoreIT Pro 7
New data backup and recovery software has improved features and functionality
IRVINE, CA — November 09, 2005 — FarStone Technology is expanding its line of data backup and recovery software with the release of RestoreIT 7 and RestoreIT Pro 7. The professional version of RestoreIT combines ongoing, automatic backup with hard drive cloning and hard disk imaging.
RestoreIT 7 is a powerful data recovery utility that automatically backs up all files on a computer. Following a malware attack, a Windows® crash, or a problem caused by human error, RestoreIT lets a user roll back a system to the point where it was last working. Since it loads before Windows, RestoreIT will launch even when Windows does not boot and recover all files, system and personal.

Both RestoreIT Pro and RestoreIT 7 offer new functionality, including complete backup to network drive or external USB hard drive. Previous versions of RestoreIT saved data to a protected partition on the hard drive and to CD/DVD, but not to external devices. RestoreIT 7 also adds previewing capability — that is, users can mount their backup points and browse them in Windows Explorer. This helps ensure that the correct backup point will be selected prior to complete recovery, which overwrites all files on a system.
RestoreIT Pro includes a full copy of RestoreIT and adds an extra layer of protection with disk imaging that saves an exact copy of a hard drive to an external location. The cloning function transfers a single disk or partition image to a new hard drive or across multiple systems.

RestoreIT 7 is a powerful data recovery utility that automatically backs up all files on a computer to a protected partition of the hard drive. In case of a data disaster, users can quickly roll back and entire system to known good point, or they can browse for saved versions of personal files in any number of incremental backup points. System recovery overwrites every file on a hard drive to a static backup point, while file-level allows users to restore only the files and folders they want, leaving other files on a system untouched. RestoreIT loads before Windows and RestoreIT will launch even when Windows does not boot.

RestoreIT Pro 7 combines the user-friendly, ongoing backup of RestoreIT with the hard drive imaging of DriveClone 2. DriveClone makes a complete copy of a hard drive, including system settings and partition information, and saves it as a compressed image onto CD, DVD, a network share, or USB external hard drive. Users can clone this image onto a new hard drive, or use it to recover data in case of OS or hard drive failure.
