FarStone Launches VirtualDrive® 10 and VirtualDrive Pro 10

New VirtualDrive CD-DVD emulators boast new multimedia features, enhanced game support, and improved interfaces

IRVINE, CA — November 16, 2005 — FarStone Technology has launched the latest versions of its popular CD/DVD emulation software, VirtualDrive 10 and VirtualDrive Pro 10. The new versions offer updated disc support and new multimedia capability.

VirtualDrive 10 CD emulator copies a CD or unencrypted DVD as a compressed image, or “virtual CD,” which runs as a file directly on the hard drive. Virtual discs can be shared over a network or transported on a laptop computer, USB device, or portable medium. Since they operate on the hard drive, they also save wear and tear to CD-ROM drives, and extend the battery life of laptop computers.

“While designing VirtualDrive 10 and VirtualDrive Pro 10, we listened carefully to the feedback and wishes of our beta users and customers,” said Tom Fedro, executive vice president, FarStone. “VirtualDrive 10 addresses the growing requirement for a convenient, portable means of managing CD-DVD collections. VirtualDrive 10 and VirtualDrive Pro 10 offer the most robust feature sets in their product category.”

About VirtualDrive 10

VirtualDrive offers an easy way to access and manage their CD/DVD collections. Users create virtual CDs, or images of their CDs and DVDs, then click on them to load them into any one of up to 23 virtual CD/DVD drives that the software creates. Physical disc are no longer needed for disc-based application play, sparing CD/DVD collections from theft or damage. A virtual CD has access rates up to 200 times faster than a physical disc a CD-ROM drive.

FarStone’s patented RapidCache technology further improves PC performance by eliminating disc spin up time. An included Virtual Hard Drive program emulates a hard disk drive in RAM, allowing users to files and applications at high speed in non-swappable physical memory.

About VirtualDrive Pro 10

VirtualDrive Pro 10 contains all the functionality of VirtualDrive 10, but includes additional multimedia features: video and slide show creation from virtual CDs, and enhanced CD-DVD burning capability.
