FarStone and Auravision Release Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro
Customized Fatal1ty CD-DVD emulator supercharges PC game play
LAS VEGAS, NV — January 5, 2006 — FarStone has partnered with Auravision, master licensor of the Fatal1ty brand, to offer Fatal1ty GameDrive CD-DVD emulator to computer gamers. The rebranded software creates virtual CDs and plays them directly on the hard drive, reducing a gamer’s reliance on physical discs.
Because they play directly on the hard drive, Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro virtual CDs running in virtual ROM drives have read times up to 200 times faster than physical discs loaded in a physical CD-DVD ROM drive. And because they run as independent files, virtual CDs allow traveling gamers to leave valuable game collections safely stored at home, protected from loss, damage, and theft.
Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, Five-time Cyber Professional League World Champion PC gamer and the name behind the Fatal1ty brand, has experienced first hand the competitive edge and convenience offered by Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro. “FarStone has a great reputation in the software utilities industry, so I’m really excited about working with them,” said Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. “Now I won’t have to worry about carrying my CDs around and risking losing them. That’s really convenient.”
“Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro is a must-have utility where disc performance matters, especially with PC games,” said Tom Fedro, Executive Vice President of FarStone. “We are very excited to be a part of the Fatal1ty team. This partnerhip with the world’s most successful gamer validates Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro with this exploding market segment.”
Since virtual CDs can be stored and transported on a laptop computer, a USB device, or any other digital storage medium, they are nearly as portable as MP3s (though file sizes are larger). Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro can create up to 23 virtual ROM drives and have them pre-loaded with games or other content. Hot-keys allow easy swapping between discs.
Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro has some of the best game support of any CD emulator; supported titles include PainkilleR, Quake4, Doom, Unreal2004, Madden 2006, Dungeon Siege, Sacred Gold and Advent Rising. Its Live Update service ensures access to the latest game support, software updates, and product patches.
This week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro joins other Fatal1ty-branded products as the first software to carry the Fatal1ty name. Special preview versions of Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro will be offered by Fatal1ty partners. Upgrades to the full version of Fatal1ty GameDrive Pro will be sold exclusively through the Fatal1ty online store beginning January 5, 2006.
