Intel Bundles Vista-Ready FarStone Data Recovery Software
Intel extends its licensing agreement with FarStone, providing instant recovery for Vista-enabled home systems
IRVINE, CA — February 23, 2007 — Intel Corporation will include FarStone RestoreIT data backup and recovery software with select Intel motherboards equipped with high-performance Intel P965 and 975X Express Chipsets for desktop computers.
The agreement extends a partnership between Intel and FarStone that began in 2003 and was renewed in 2005 with a software bundle for motherboards using Intel 945 and 955 Express Chipsets.
Previously announced at the Intel Solutions Summit, a gathering of Intel Premier Provider channel partners, the licensing agreement gives Intel customers a tool to recover data independently without having to rely on technical assistance. This empowers the end user and lowers the tech support costs of channel partners, system builders, and system integrators.
“After successfully shipping millions of boards with FarStone software, we are pleased that Intel has renewed their commitment and continues to recognize the value of this powerful data recovery software” said Tom Fedro, executive vice president at FarStone. “We are pleased that FarStone can deliver a Vista-ready data recovery tool that meets the needs of Intel customers.”
About RestoreIT
RestoreIT data backup and recovery software offers a variety of system backup, data disaster recovery, and lost file recovery options. The software backs up an entire hard drive with a complete, incrementally updated archive of system, application, and personal files. Backup points are stored in a protected virtual partition that RestoreIT creates on the hard drive.
Benefits include:
-
Reduced downtime: Users can recover accidentally deleted files or restore entire systems by returning their systems to a known “good point”
-
Pre-OS recovery: RestoreIT will launch and recover data even when Windows does not boot
-
Incremental backup: Users can quickly update a complete backup point with an incremental point, which acts as a “layer” of data on top of other layers of backup data
