FarStone Launches New Hard Disk Imaging Software

DriveClone disk-imaging suite offers cost-effective data backup and recovery

IRVINE, CA — March 12, 2007 — FarStone Technology announced at the Data Protection Summit that it has developed a new suite of disk imaging and data backup software targeting small business users. Based on FarStone DriveClone, the suite includes versions for work stations, servers, networks, and system builders.

The new suite of hard disk imaging products combines FarStone’s RestoreIT data disaster technology with expanded disk imaging functionality. The software performs complete and incremental backups within Windows, and a new snapshot feature creates incremental backups at predetermined intervals.

FarStone already supplies data backup and hard disk imaging solutions to Intel, Trend Micro, Seagate, and other leading technology companies. With the DriveClone backup and imaging suite, FarStone is addressing two top concerns of the small business market: comprehensive data protection and fast recovery time.

“For the last four years, our focus has been to develop relationships with OEMs and noted technology players,” said Tom Fedro, FarStone’s executive vice president. “Today we see an opportunity to help small and medium businesses with an efficient and affordable product suite.”

Many disk imaging tools are designed for highly technical users, or are easy to use but incomplete. The DriveClone suite is meant to fill the gap with a powerful but user-friendly disk imaging, backup, and data recovery solution.

About the DriveClone Suite

The DriveClone suite includes desktop or workstation versions of DriveClone 3 and DriveClone 3 Pro. Both products offer hard disk imaging, which saves an exact copy of the hard drive to an external location and enables complete recovery from any data disaster. DriveClone also creates a cloned image of a partition or hard drive, which can be copied onto a new hard drive of equal or larger size.

  • DriveClone 3 Pro incorporates a component that automatically creates system snapshots at pre-determined intervals. These snapshots are stored in a secure area of a computer’s hard drive and allow a user to quickly roll back an entire system to a known “good point.” The feature is ideal for anyone who may not have immediate access to technical assistance.

  • DriveClone Server contains all of the features of DriveClone Pro, but is designed to run on Windows server operating systems.

  • DriveClone System Recovery (SR) is a customizable disk imaging solution for system builders. It creates a factory image that allows end-users to quickly restore their systems to an original factory state.

  • DriveClone Network offers remote access to clients PCs enables remote and local system recovery for any configured system on a LAN.
