“What are the licensing restrictions for DriveClone 5? Can I install it on more than one computer?”
Licensed copies of DriveClone can be installed and used on one single computer at a given time. If you need to use DriveClone on multiple computers, you will need to purchase a license for each one.

“Can I create a bootable disc with DriveClone 5? If so, what does it do?”
DriveClone 5 creates two types of bootable discs:

A recovery disc, which saves your complete hard drive on a CD or DVD. If your system crashes and you have to replace your hard drive, booting from a recovery disc lets you restore your system information and data to the new hard drive.

A startup disc, which restores your computer from an image file. Use a startup disc if DriveClone is not installed on your computer, but you want to restore from a saved image. The startup disc will boot to the DriveClone pre-OS screen. You’ll be able to browse local drives or network shares for your backup image and restore your computer.
“What’s the difference between a clone and a backup image?”
A clone copies the complete contents of a hard drive or partition to another hard drive or partition, on-the-fly, usually overwriting all data in the destination drive. DriveClone 5 can clone hard drives within Windows.
A backup image stores a complete backup of a hard drive or partition as a compressed image file (or a set of image files) which can coexist with other files on the destination drive. This image file can later be restored to the original source drive or to a new destination drive. The new drive should be of the same size or larger than the original source drive.
"I have a large hard drive with an installed operating system and lots of unused space. Can DriveClone clone my system to a smaller drive?"
No. DriveClone cannot clone a drive or partition to a smaller drive or partition. You will need to use third party software to resize the partition so that the source drive is equal to or smaller in size than the destination drive.

“What RAID controllers does DriveClone 5 support?”

“I can’t create a working set of CD-DVD images in DriveClone. What could be causing the problem?”
Be sure to activate the Image Integrity Check option when you create your backup CD/DVD. The process will launch after each disc is burned. If you’re using a notebook or a CD-DVD drive that does not automatically reload the disc, you’ll need to push the disc tray back in to enable the image integrity check. Once the image integrity check is complete, you may be prompted to insert another disc.

“Can DriveClone image or clone a Linux operating system or Linux-based partition?”
Yes, but DriveClone does not support an installation on a Linux-based operating system. You will need to install DriveClone on a computer running a supported Windows operating system, then attach the hard drive with the Linux operating system or partition as a secondary / slave hard drive. At that point, you can clone or image the Linux-based drive.
“Is DriveClone 5 compatible with Windows 2003 Server or other server operating systems?”
No, you cannot install DriveClone 5 on a server operating system. With a computer running a desktop operating system, you can, however, install and configure a hard drive containing a server operating system as a secondary / slave hard drive to image a server’s hard drive.
