VirtualDrive Network CD/DVD Emulation Software

How can I upgrade my version of VirtualDrive?

To upgrade your version of VirtualDrive, please contact your VirtualDrive distributor directly.

There are multiple operating systems in different languages on my computer. Can the VirtualDrive Network client program show the same language as the systems?

VirtualDrive Network supports multiple languages such as English, Chinese (Traditional & Simplified), Japanese, French, German, Korean, Spanish and Dutch. You can choose your language for installing the administrator program. If you have already installed the VirtualDrive Network client program and the language cannot be displayed properly, please copy files in the multi-language package folder into the directory %windir% /Program Files\FarStone\Vdn and %windir%/windows.

After I installed the VirtualDrive Network client program on my computer and I tried logging onto the system, it gave me an error message saying "Program will not run. Configuration file (%s) does not exist or is corrupt". How do I solve this problem?

Try one of the following methods:

  1. Make sure you have shared the VDN server folder with the client and the client has access to change files in this folder.
  2. Please check to see what the maximum number of users allowed for connecting to the VDN folder is. For Windows XP & 2000, there is a limitation on the number of users allowed to connect to a network shared folder, therefore we strongly recommended that you install the VDN server on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
  3. This problem may occur if the network is overloaded. You can log onto VDN when network is free.
  4. Set the buffer of the Switch or HUB in your network to a proper value according to network transfer rate.

Can two or more administrator programs exist in a local area network?

No, only one administrator is allowed to exist in a local area network.

I do not want somebody to see the shared VDN directory via My Network Places, how can I hide it?.

You can keep the directory invisible on a network by renaming the folder name as VDN$.

Can I backup the settings of the VirtualDrive Network?

Yes. For users of VirtualDrive Network 7.1 or previous versions, you can backup settings of VirtualDrive Network by saving these files from the VDN folder: Group.*, authority.*, Config.*, tvconfg.*, user.*, VDNData.* For users of VirtualDrive Network 7.11 or later versions, you can backup settings directly by using the Export function from the File menu and by saving settings at a specified location. Once VirtualDrive Network is reinstalled, you can restore your settings by importing this file.

What is the difference between the VirtualDrive 7.X evaluation version and the Licensed version?

  1. Try disabling your Firewall and Pop-up Blockers and attempt to re-launch Live Update.
  2. Try rebooting your computer and pressing F8 before you see Starting Windows XP displayed on your monitor; when the Boot Options menu appears, select Safe Mode with Networking. After Windows has started in Safe Mode, proceed to re-launch Live Update, and attempt to retrieve the latest updates.
  3. Some users have reported a conflict with Sonic software and that uninstalling the Sonic software allowed them to complete Live Update.
  4. If the issue persists, please contact Technical Support.
